Opening a Coffee Shop Tips and Advice

By: Joe Black.

My best tip is to learn from others. There isn't any point in reinventing the wheel. See what other franchises have accomplished to achieve their success. You might want to search at places and establishments and franchises that are going to be successful.

For starters, really go to your competition. I know this does not sound like something you're going to enjoy doing, but think about it as research. Go check out and determine the means in which they have their shops setup. Determine what kind of menus they've got. A coffee shop is more than simply coffee. The more competition you check out, the better an idea you'll have of the manner in how to compete.

Next, you'd like to check their ad campaigns. Everybody advertises differently based on their USP, but all of them do have stuff in common. Look for those similarities. There are going to be some basic things that you simply going to want to offer to your audience. The general primary things are going to be:

The general quality of the coffee and food
The overall atmosphere of the store
The price

A lot of folks say that there's not a big difference between one coffee and another. Those people are NOT real coffee drinkers. Trust me...there is a difference. If you're looking to cater to the guy driving an 18 wheeler on route 9, he's going to want a different quality of coffee than the guy who has a $2,000 suit and doesn't buy anything off the typical rack. You have to grasp who your target audience is and what kind of coffee they are going going to desire.

Same issue with the general atmosphere. Some people just would like their coffee to go and that is it. Others wish to sit down and relax and take pleasure in their brew and while definitely are doing it, they do not would like to sit in a dive...though some folk may not mind as long as the overall coffee is good.

Finally, there is the price. Whereas we're not talking about a big item like a car, some people aren't going to require to spend more than 50 cents for a cup whereas others can gladly pay $2 or more if the overall coffee is really exceptional. Again, know who your demographics are.

By going to other coffee shops, especially ones in your area, you'll get a good feel for who your market is. From there, it's just a matter up ofcatering to it.
